Mumbai: Mumbai police have instructed the Bombay High Court that they have been duty-bound to register an FIR in opposition to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters because the criticism lodged in opposition to them by actress Rhea Chakraborty “disclosed commission of the offence”.

The metropolis police on Monday filed an affidavit within the HC in search of dismissal of the petition filed by Rajput’s sisters – Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh – to quash the FIR lodged in opposition to them for alleged forgery and fabrication of a medical prescription for his or her brother.

The case was lodged in opposition to them by Bandra police right here in September after receiving a criticism from Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

The affidavit filed by Bandra police’s senior inspector Nikhil Kapse refuted the allegations that the police have been damaging the repute of the petitioners or any deceased particular person.

By registering the FIR in opposition to Rajput’s sisters, the police weren’t making an attempt to “influence or derail” the probe being carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the affidavit stated.

“The FIR (against Priyanka and Meetu) was registered based on the information provided by the first informant (Chakraborty) disclosing commission of offence,” it stated.

The affidavit additionally claimed that as per the complainant (Chakraborty), a pretend and fabricated medical prescription was despatched by the petitioners with the assistance of a Delhi-based physician whereby medicines for nervousness have been prescribed to Rajput.

After registration of the FIR, the police in line with the order handed by the Supreme Court referred all related paperwork pertaining to the FIR to the CBI which is probing Rajput’s demise case, it stated.

The police opposed the stand taken by the CBI that they need to not have registered the FIR in the identical case that the central company was already probing.

“The case being probed by the CBI is one registered by the deceased’s father in Bihar. “On the opposite hand, the FIR lodged by the Mumbai police is by Rhea Chakraborty in search of investigation for forgery, dishonest and felony conspiracy in opposition to Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters Priyanka and Meetu and physician Tarun Kumar,” the affidavit stated.
