J&K DDC elections 6th phase: Around 50% votes polled, fate of 245 candidates to be decided

Srinagar: The sixth part of voting for the District Development Council (DDC) elections throughout the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir is underway. Despite chilly climate situations, individuals are popping out in big numbers to forged their votes. All preparations are in place.

It’s the sixth part of first-ever DDC polls in Jammu and Kashmir round 50% of votes has been polled and within the earlier 5 phases, a median of about 50% polling was recorded throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

There are whole 280 constituencies within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (14 in every district) out of which voting can be performed in 31 constituencies, together with 14 from Kashmir Division and 17  from Jammu Division, polling began from 7 am to 2 pm. 

There is a complete of 245 candidates within the electoral fray. In Kashmir division, there are 124 candidates in fray together with 45 females. In Jammu division, there are 124 candidates in fray for the 20 DDC constituencies on this part, together with 53 females.

A voter Abdul Rashid stated, “ our village is just 12 kilometres away from summer capital but we have seen no development since last 70 years now we have chosen person from our village and we are in hope that our village will also develop”.

There are 127 Sarpanch vacancies notified within the sixth part, 37 have been elected unopposed. There shall be a contest in 77 constituencies and 229 candidates together with 65 females are within the fray, 

Similarly, the entire 1548 Panch vacancies notified on this part, 334 constituencies will go for elections with 740 candidates contesting the elections together with 180 feminine candidates.

In the sixth part, 748301 electors, 390432 male and 357869 feminine voters are registered to forged their votes.

A complete of 2071 polling stations have been designated with 1208 in Kashmir division and 863 in Jammu division.

In Kashmir, all polling stations are categorised as hypersensitive and delicate. 

Authorities have put all of the preparations in place for this part together with manpower, election materials and safety preparations in all ballot going areas.

It’s the sixth part of first time occurring DDC polls in Jammu Kashmir round 50% voting is witnessed and earlier in 5 phases on a median about 50% polling is already recorded throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
